This course is designed to challenge and motivate students who love using technology. Every web page on the Internet is secretly written in Hyper Text Markup Language, otherwise known as "HTML." So why don't you see code and markup everywhere? Well, your browser reads HTML for you and just shows you the pretty version. In this course, you will get your hands dirty with the basics of HTML. We will show you formatting, links, and images so you can make a simple but ugly webpage. If you want to make it pretty, stick around for the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) lessons.
MS 2 - MATH MADNESS 6th-8th

Designed to prepare students for high school level mathematics, this course increases proficiency in essential mathematics skills, exposes students to a wide variety of junior high math topics, and introduces students to pre-algebra and algebra concepts. Problem solving strategies and critical thinking skills will also be stressed in a cooperative learning environment. Computation skills with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions will be further developed and reinforced. Students will be expected to demonstrate competency in these computations without the aid of a calculator. Algebra readiness skills are integrated throughout the course.

This purpose of this course is to practice the skills and strategies to successfully tackle 6th grade math. The reinforcement of 6th grade math objectives through the use of mental math strategies will improve the student’s mathematical abilities while fostering a confidence in math.

Students will explore a variety of woodwind instruments (flute, clarinet and saxophone), brass instruments (trumpet, trombone and French horn) and string instruments (guitar, electric bass, piano and drums).

This immersion program is designed to improve verbal communication and comprehension of young learners. Through a multi-sensory approach, learners improve their speaking and listening skills. This course is based in an active method (students learn by doing). Learned material is revisited at strategic points through the use of games, songs, rhymes, stories, crafts.
MS 8- Reading Beyond Comprehension

More than just being able to summarize and locate information in fiction and non-fiction text, students will think critically. They will analyze context to make inferences and draw conclusions about story elements, themes, figurative language, vocabulary, and author’s point of view. Students will learn to skim read as well as to read thoroughly, making annotations. Students will read a variety of genres appropriate for young adults, to build reading stamina and fluency. Teacher will scaffold information appropriate for English Language Learners.
MS 9 - Constructive Writing

Students will strengthen English writing skills by developing cohesive, structured, and organized ideas within solid paragraphs. Students will improve Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Grammar by analyzing, revising, and editing. They will also plan clear outlines to be able to develop short expository essays with a clear message and purpose. Teacher will scaffold information appropriate for English Language Learners by using Writer’s Workshop and strategic mini-lessons.
